Half-heartedness kills team spirit
In many conversations over the last months, I have heard comments like:
“We have employee development schemes, but we are not really using them.”
“We have a booklet of leadership programs to choose from, but I do not really get much out of them.”
“We developed a program at the request of our customers, but now they are not interested in it anymore.”
So-called solutions, programs, and initiatives – those things that make companies look good, caring, up-to-date, maybe even innovative – but exist only for superficial appearances & the sake of tick-box exercises:
– Drain energy
– Reduce engagement
– Take time, space and focus away from what is really needed
Passion lives in the lived, not in plants that are dead. And in that passion lies the true USP.
We have all felt it:
The fear that comes with clarity, the knowing of what no longer works. The feeling that “more is more,” the uncomfortable pressure to show we are doing or changing something: “We/I have already done…”
But real strength lies in cutting out:
– Cutting out what does not work
– Cutting out what no longer inspires passion
– Cutting out what makes us sick
Last week, I went through three days of water fasting. It was a perfect mirror of how much we consume unnecessarily most of the time. How we fill up without needing something. And then no longer have space for what really nourishes us.
Maybe “less is truly more” for teams who want to re-activate passion for better results.
