Let’s shape a future we love – instead of pushing down feelings & impulses

Steve Jobs said: “You can’t connect the dots looking forward, you can only connect them looking backwards.”

But what if we can connect the dots looking forward?

While I support his message – trusting life and having faith it will all make sense in the end – I have experienced, that we can connect the dots looking forward.

Here are two ways most of us already do:
We know what’s coming if we don’t change.

If we stay in that job. Keep the same habits. Or don’t take that difficult decision of letting an employee go.
We are pretending we don’t know or as we say in German – “Ich heisse Hase und weiss von nichts” or “Nobody knows the trouble I have seen.”

We know exactly what is going to happen, so lets not cheat ourselves.

We feel something before it happens.

But we can’t quite name it. We adjust – or ignore it.
Then, hours, days or years later is plays out exactly as we felt.

The idea we had is brought to the market by someone else.
The business partner that we thought about calls out of the blue.
The hire, who looked perfect on paper but we doubted creates chaos.

This is intuition.
We can connect the dots looking forward.

So let’s stop pretending we cant.
Let’s use this super power to our advantage.
Let’s use it to shape a future that we love.

Instead of pushing feelings and impulses down-
and then wonder why we feel disconnected.

Our heart is sending us information
Intelligence.
Everyday.
Through our body.

Pause.
Listen.
Follow.
